After learning japanese and chinese, korean has quite simply been the easiest language i've ever learned, due to the ~60% vocabulary similarity, and near 90% grammar similarity to japanese and chinese.. In the beginning, it doesn't help much. my chinese friends struggled with japanese as much as i did. in the long run, once you reach a certain proficiency level, then yes, knowing chinese gives you an advantage edge over other learners..
